If you are reading this winter is right around the corner. Well you've already taken the biggest step to get yourself ready. By following these easy steps you will have the edge on Mother Nature this winter. .
First remove your carpets and vacuum them as well as the floor of the car. Store the carpets in a warm and dry location for the duration of the winter. Spray on an over the counter (OTC) aerosol carpet sealer/protector. This will help repel moisture and potential stains. Apply 3-4 layers of newspaper on the floor, pay special attention NOT to get any bunched up under the pedals. Make sure you have some good overlap and protection on the sides as well. Place specially designed winter mats over the newspaper. You'll need to keep an eye on the paper. Replace bi-monthly or more often if necessary.
Since you are already in your vehicle it's a good time to apply some anti-fog formula to your windshield. As you are well aware there are dramatic temperature fluctuations in the winter and this produces fog, it can be extremely dangerous. Follow the manufactures directions when applying the product.
Be sure to wax your vehicle and maintain its shine as best possible during the winter. This will help to avoid contaminants from sticking to your vehicles surface. Also I strongly recommend cleaning and applying plastic protector to your wheel wells when you change to your winter tires. Since they will already be off it’s a great time to do this. The plastic protector will create a glossy finish which snow and slush will have a difficult time adhering to.
Now that I have you in the mood to prep. your ride properly why don't we finish off with something easy? Make sure you add winter formulated windshield washer fluid into your reservoir. You don't want that freezing on you. Some of the most fun you can have on the road is in the winter. Be safe and take care of your vehicle and she'll take care of you!
