Waxing Your Vehicle.

So its finally time to wax your ride! All that prep work will now pay off. Place your vehicle in a shaded area. If it was in the sun for a while let it cool down. Once it has go ahead and apply wax on an applicator. Choose something smooth that you will be able to control.

What you'll need.

  • Time
  • Your favorite wax
  • Applicator
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Shade
  • Blue painters tape

  • If you are looking for that perfect shine you'll want to follow these steps. First I recommend taping off the plastic sections of your ride that you do not want to expose to the wax. Some waxes may damage plastic, especially if its polished. Take the time to mask it properly, this will save you time and headaches later.

Start applying the wax on the roof of the car. Then move to the hood and work clockwise. This way you wont forget any spots. Apply the wax evenly on the panels. Be careful not to rub any on plastic or glass pieces. They may get damaged. Once the whole vehicle is covered in your wax let it sit for 15-30 minutes. While it doesn't always have to be this long I found that the longer I let it sit the better shine I got in the end. NOTE: not all wax manufacturers suggest this process so please read your wax's label before applying.

Apply the wax in a back and forth motion. Avoid circular motions because streaks may result.

When its time to remove the wax start from the top again. Some waxes form little balls and roll all over the car. Its easier to collect them by going from the top to the bottom. Be sure to fold your cloth often while removing the wax. You want a maximum contact patch to remove the wax. Once the vehicle is free of wax pass over every panel again with a clean microfiber cloth to pick up anything that may have been left behind. Also using a very soft brush will allow you to get leftovers in hard to reach cracks.

If for whatever reason your wax is lacking that shine a neat trick is to park your vehicle in the sun for 15-20 minutes then bring it back in the shade. Pass over your car with a detailing spray and a fresh microfiber towel.
