Interior: Seats

Often ignored but indispensable. We use them everyday but do we care for them? I will breakdown this How To for both cloth and leather.

What you'll need.

  • Vacuum
  • Stain remover (if necessary)
  • Deodorizer
  • Leather wipes/ treatment

  • Cloth: Most cars will have this. It is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. While cloth does have that advantage it is also the harder to keep clean. Dust, hair and stains are harder to remove from a cloth finish. For starters a good vacuuming will work wonders. It will remove the larger particle and hair. Once that's taken care of stains can now be removed. Use a product that is safe for cloth. . Always remember to try the product out in a less noticeable area before applying it in plain sight. Once you have the stain removed you may want to protect the seat from further damage. Again you can use a product to seal and protect the finish. Before you leave you may also want to spray a deodorizer to get rid of any smells.

    * If you have any stains here is a good way to remove them. Gently remove any excess. Place an absorbent pad over the area. Apply a laundry pre-treatment to it. Dab with warm water. Leave a window open to let it dry.

Leather: Is the luxury option for car seats. While it resists stains much better then cloth it offers its own set of challenges. On the market today you can find leather wipes that will restore your leathers looks. They work great in a pinch however they wear out quickly. Invest in a good lotion by a trusted company and you will have rich looking leather for a while to come. Leather dries up over time. It is important to keep it well oiled to minimize the changes of it cracking. Since we see such extreme temperatures it wears out the leather that much quicker.
