Doing Your Engine Justice.

Want to be able to pop your hood and show off that motor? Well people wont be so impressed by a dirty engine bay. Find out how to WOW them.

What you'll need.

  • Water (high pressure if possible)
  • Aluminum foil or plastic bags
  • Engine degreaser
  • Engine finishing spray
  • Towel

  • It is well known that people who have clean engine bays take better care of their cars, this can help you fetch more money for your car when its time to sell it. For something that takes under an hour to do its well worth your time.

Once you have your hood open you'll want to remove any lose pieces by hand, leaves twigs, that family of mice and what ever else is in there. Let your engine run for 4-6 minutes, just to get it warm, this will help the grease come off easier. Cover your distributor and other electrical components. Aluminum foil is very easy to work this. It takes the shape of anything very easily. You may also use plastic bags with elastics or tape. Spray engine degreaser generously over your engine. Let it soak for 5 minutes or so then use a hose to remove it. There will be some spots that need to be cleaned by hand. Do so with a brush and a little extra degreaser.

Wipe your engine bay dry and apply your favorite detailing product. This will make your engine shine. Be sure to protect everything once you remove the grease. The grease had been preventing corrosion for a long time and its not advised to leave all those parts unprotected. You may use plastic protectors for your hoses and other plastic trim you may have.
